It was totally recorded at Chipping Norton during the UTI sessions... it was the third track we worked on. Guitar sounds were tweaked throughout the album, song by song, as they are on most albums.
Was Little White Lies recorded before or after the Chipping Norton sessions and what was the reason it was recorded at Big Ocean?
LWL started life as a demo I recorded at Big Ocean with Rick before the UTI sessions, then we took it to Chipping Norton and worked on it with the rest of Quo. 'Blessed' also started as a demo... but from Francis' studio Arsis.
Similarly, were the tracks for the Denzin in Blut(?) German soundtrack songs recorded at Chipping Norton? I assume it was due to the racing theme that procluded these songs from Under the Influence?
These tracks were done afterwards at Arsis. They were not part of the UTI sessions at all.
I know it was probably down to time limitations on the CD but I would have loved to have a remastered version of Driving to Glory - all the versions out there seem to be very compressed. What are your thoughts on this?
See above... as they were not a part of the UTI sessions they were not included.
I got hold of the Orchestral version of Not Fade Away a couple of years back. Is the basic mix the same with the orchestra layered on top or is it a complete re-mix?
The Mike Batt version... was basically the same mix with Mike's orchestral arrangement added. Mike and I did remix the back track too, but we didn't like what we had as much as Barry Hammond's original mix from Chipping Norton, which was great... so we used that.
Finally the obvious treasure trove question - was there anything left over from the sessions which hasn't seen the light of day?
The only other track from the UTI sessions not on the re-issue was a version of Don't Waste My Time, which I think has been released since.
Thanks again for a great job on this and in fact on all your Quo projects!
